BP#5 HOS FILM CHRISTIANA

the film is total different fro the book. in the film they talk about their sexy life, but in the book it said that the sister's never marry because they don't want any man to control their life.also they said that they get ingenue in school and their job because of their colored. i the book they said a story about their grand prantes but in the film it was opposite side of it.
on the timeline, i think it was not a good ideas to add the film on it, because people may get wrong informant about the sister' life. people want total real informant about the Delany sister. what they said tin their interview not what they think is best to fix in the story of the Delany sister's.
on the timeline one thing that sunrising me the most is that the sister die before their life story books were publish. if i met the Delany sister's one question i will ask then is that how did they felt about the discrimination.did they like the ideas of the jiw crow laws.

MY BEST DAY (Maite)

For me, the Delany sister's real life is truer than the film. The actresses are professional but the real life could more describe their life. There is a good idea on the timeline and it's interesting that we can see those pictures. On the timeline, one thing that surprised me is originally the Delany sisters were died before that book and film came out. If I could meet the Delany sisters, I would like to ask them about the meaning of life and how can they alive without spouse and children to support them?

BP#5 MOVIE H.O.S. (MARIA VERA)

the book is  a little be different because in the movie add two different history
The first is the of married couple and the second is about one lady want to study and in the school somebody try to  humiliate for her color.
but i understand how the Bessie life was it  different and they lived on that time, but when i read the book they life for each day and how they move and changes in their life .
The timeline if the list of the real life and can see hers pictures family very well after longs time ago and a impressing see her relationship.
I would like to know more about the sister's life.

There are no differences about the movie trailer and Delany’s real life. The characters look like the Delany’s. They are acting the same in the story. In the time line is the actresses in the film have been added into the picture to look "authentic." its good idea because there are look like the real Delany’s in real life when they was young and when they was old. Also they were showing under the pictures what the Delany’s doing that time. One thing that surprises me was in the pictures that Sadie was learning Greek from Professor Boyer also I see that the pictures that scanned with Lisa Arrindell Anderson andAudra McDonald was look like the reall Delany’s sisters. Well, there are a lot of questions to ask them which one of these questions is why you didn’t think about being marriage

BP #5 - HOS Film - sejung

The film is kind of different from the Delany sister's real life. In the film, they added some love stories and difficult things that they been through. Delany sisters were getting ignore in schools and their jobs because they are colored people in the movie. I am up to only chapter 6 so i don't really know what's going to be happen but i don't think they mentions about their family's history in the movie. In the book, they talked about their grand mother and grand father's love story.
I don't think it is a good idea to put some pictures of film on the timeline to look "authentic" because that is not real. Timeline is the list of a real life but if the picture is fake then that all looks bad.  I got surprising the fact that Sadie graduated from Pratt Institute in 1918. She continued studying 1918
at Columbia University but i am wondering if she studied about art before she studied at Columbia University. I know that Pratt Institute is great art school so i am just wondering if it was an art school back the days too. If i meet the Delany sisters i would ask Sadie how was the Pratt Institute before and i want to know why she decided to become a teacher. I also wants to ask them how was the society back in the day.

BP#4 NARRATIVE ESSAY CHRISTIANA

People think the best day of your life is having fun with your friends. What is the best day of your life? Most think the day they finish school or get a new job. Also get marry to the man they wanted in their life. The best day in my life was seeing my mom for the first time in my life.
Well it all started this way, when I was at the age of 13. My mom call me while her call came it was kind of raining at that time. So I was asleep then my uncle calls me with his loud voice that your mom wants to speak to you. I get up get the phone, while we were communion to each other, she said it was time. I asked what time is she talking about then she said the time I should joint her in the state. At that moment words cannot express how grateful I am to hear that her wonderful impact in my life. The only words I said to her are a simple thank you for making my day the best day ever. Alter the amazing news I ask her about my brother and my dad how that are doing the we hung up the phone. After our communion my mom have impact my life with glad and brilliant. All day I was thinking the things I will do when I see her. I was pleased that week. I cloud wait to tell my friends about it when I get back to school
Being with my mom was the best day of my life. For the past 13 years in my life I was delighted to see her and she was satisfied to see me too. The. The only words I can say to her is a simple thank you for giving me time in her life again

bp#3 Harlem song history (maite)

"HARLEM SONG"
“Harlem Nocturne” is a saxophone-saturated song born in 1939 that has had a long shelf life-a song that found pop fame 20 years, and again nearly 50 years after its first release. Perhaps most notably the song came to wide popular notice in the early- and mid-1960s in a rendition by a group called The Viscounts. In its musical sojourn, “Harlem Nocturne” became one of those classic and timeless instrumentals that filled the airways and nightclubs over the decades in many cover versions, even to this day.But the original “Harlem Nocturne” has its roots in late 1930s’ jazz and the big band era. Here’s some of that lineage.
Earle Hagen wrote and composed the song, along with Dick Richards.
Hagen played trombone with Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and the Ray Noble Orchestra, where he became an arranger in the late 1930s.  On the road with Noble, Hagen composed “Harlem Nocturne,” and the song became a jazz standard.Initially, Hagen wrote the song as a tribute to saxophonist Johnny Hodges, known for his solo work with Duke Ellington’s band.  In writing the tune, Hagen had been inspired by Duke Ellington’s band. Johnny Hodges (1907-1970), meanwhile, became a legendary saxophonist.By 1941, “Harlem Nocturne” was also used as a theme song for the Randy Brooks Orchestra.
In the early 1950s, saxophonist Herbie Fields released “Harlem Nocturne” as a single, then becoming one of the first popular jazz versions.  And not long after that came a raft of cover versions by virtually every sax player in the R & B business.  According to one source, there may be as many as 500 versions, making it one of the most covered songs in history.  Among the many artists who have covered the song are: Duke Ellington, Harry James, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Lounge Lizards, Earl Bostic, Quncy Jones, Boots Randolph, guitarist Danny Gatton, the Ventures, and others.
But it was the Viscounts, a New Jersey band, that put the song on the musical map in a new way in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  The Viscounts were an instrumental quintet consisting of Harry Haller on tenor sax; Bobby Spievak, guitar; Joe Spievak, bass; Larry Vecchio on organ; and Clark Smith on drums. The Viscounts’ version was first released on the Madison record label – a New York city label started in 1958.By January 1959, “Harlem Nocturne” was climbing the pop charts and had risen to No.52. Despite the Viscounts’ mediocre showing with “Harlem Nocturne” on the music charts, it remained one of the most recognizable instrumentals of that era.  The Viscounts, meanwhile, followed with two other instrumentals on the Madison label – “Night Train” and “Wabash Blues.”
Hagen would later write books on music arranging and scoring, including, Scoring for Films.Hagen died of natural causes in May 2008.  He was 89.
As for the Viscounts’s history after “Nocturne,” the Pop History Dig has not yet been able to locate more detail on the group, but will update this page as new information is found.  The Viscounts had other songs, of course, including jazzy versions of “Summertime,” “September Song,” and “Sophisti- cated Lady.”  More hard rocking versions of their tunes include “Rock,” “Dig,” “Night Train” and others.

                                                                  My best day
On that day, I awoke feeling myself still lying in the bed. It's may not a surprising to the others, but it worth celebrating for me, cause I seldom find myself still in the bed in the morning when I get up. My Mom always notice me lying in the ground near by the bed and kick me to wake me up every morning. It is a beginning, all in a day's life. While I am washing, I always hear mom  babbles about trifles."I am hurrying now!". A note of irritation creep into my voice as I talk  on.Then I have a hot coffee and toast with jams as a breakfast. As the sun shining trough the window, mom always stand beside me smiling. I rush out the house, hold the hot milk in my hand."see you evening, mom!" I heard myself whisper. When I get home after school, I still find my room messed up with odds and ends. It's the right time to clean it up before mom come back home from work, or else, she may throw these out without warning.
It's my happiness.Everyday is my best day as I stay with my lovers. Happiness comes from being, is a state of mind.Do not expect there will a free pie fall someday.A success never symbolize living happily ever after.
