BP#8 Group research project and Protests...Paul ; Christiana ; Mohd

1).As the book said W.T.Booker was not radical, modest for his race. He wanted people to be literate. He wasn't outspoken, protesting, always has a sweet and smooth way to protests Sadie was more like him. Unlike him, W.E.B. Du Bois was militant, brown skin good looking man, very intelligent leader. Always speaking out against one thing or another.Especially about lynching. He was a good leader for papa Delany, and was mostly like Bessie.
 2) Booker T. WASHINGTON was born a mulatto slave in Franklyn country on 5th April 1856. He graduated from Hampton Agricultural Institute in 1875, and got a job in a local school. He was an African American educator, author and advisor to republican president. He spoke on behalf of the large majority of blacks who lived in south , but have lost their ability to vote.                                                                      Booker preached that Blacks should accept that they were inferior to whites, he told them that we have to prove to them that we are socially capable of taking care of ourselves. He said the way we do this is make successful businesses we get educated and get into politics. He built the Nationwide Network of Supporters in many black communities. He achieved his position as racial spokesman through hard physical labour. The only thing that was a problem to him is not all people liked his belief.
3)we are mostly agreed with T Booker Washington because his way to protest wasn't physical but mental. He wanted to demonstrate that black people's were the same as white on the concern of the life. He was a great leader for African American during 25 years of his life.
      4) student protests
Beginning in 2008, the state of California was dealing with a major budjet deficit. The response was major spending cuts for its state institution The University of California school system was also dealing with large budget deficits. In an effort to fix those deficits,The Regents and University of California President: Marc G Rudolf decided to increase tuition by 32%, which would push the annual costs above $10,000 for the first time ever.
A major cause of the university system's budget deficit was due to a lack of state support going to higher education. When the Regents voted to pass the tuition hike on November 18, 2009 many students , professors and university faculty broke out in protests.Students sit-down strikes, blocking cars from entering the universities. Students had also broken several university buildings, locking themselves inside.

The UC administration responded by using the police force against the protests.Police in riot gear from the university police departments, local county sheriff's offices, California Highway patrol and state police were regularly called out during campus protests. As protests persisted, the administration escalated police violence, intimidation, and suppression of free speech, exposing the structural role of police and state violence in the privatization of public service.More than 700 students and several faculty members accross  the campus were arrested.between late 2009 and the middle of 2011s.
The worst is that the tuition had never been decreased.
