BP #8 - Group Research Project - Protests (DIRECTIONS)

Please post the names of all group members at the top of your blog post.

You are going to consider the information about protests that Bessie talked about in Chapter 21.  She talked about how there were many protests going on in Harlem and in the United States back in the 1920s-1930s.  She said that there were two kinds of protestors:
  • People like Booker T. Washington (whose beliefs were more like Sadie's)
  • People like W.E.B. Du Bois (whose beliefs were similar to Bessie's)
For BP #8, please do the following:
  1. Please describe the two different types of activists.
  2. Research either Booker T. Washington or W. E. B. Du Bois on the Internet and add information about one of them.
  3. Decide which type your group members would be more likely to join and describe why.
  4. Research recent protest activity in the United States, such as Occupy Wall Street, Students for a Free CUNY, or other Occupy groups, and add information about these modern protestors to your blog post.

1.Booker T. Washington was protesting about education of Negro, his race.he wanted black people to be literate, had educated. and Dr.Du Bois was protesting about racial equality.he want to black women could be equality and have rights same with man, and white.

2:we choose Booker.T.Washington....I find two websites about him,i have gotten information about Booker T.w was born in 1865,died in 1915. he was the most famous black man in America between 1895 and 1915.He was a slave on a small farm in the Virginia back country. from the website, i also get his life story about he became a star pupil under the tutelage of General Samuel Chapman Armstrong, head of Hampton. i was amazed by his student life and how he was successful.

3.For our group members would be more likely to join the W.E.B.Du Bois. Because he was trying to protect the colored women, who was getting biggest problem that they need a law to protect their rights in the united states. we all think in our society , racial equality is very important, and sexual should be equality ,woman should equality with men, without  any racial discrimination ,and sexual discrimination.so ,we would chose that activity.

4.Occupy wall street is a protest that started at 17th September, 2011 in New York city wall street where known as an economic district.  The main reasons that cause the protest are the corruption of some big business and the unfairness of society.  The protest is against that famous businesses usually affect the government of American.  Furthermore, they are also against that money and famous businesses always have bad effect in democracy and some laws.  As a result, the organization tried to ask their requests by occupying Wall Street in a peace way.  Their main request is that ask the president to create a team to end the bad effects of money.  In addition, this protest affect other city in the U.S.A. and even other country such as Japan.
