BP# 6-Freewriting and Essay-Lina

                                                                    Bangla New Year

People celebrate their rituals, festivals, and other things in different ways. Some home cultures are same and different to each other around the world. I am one of those people who celebrate their home cultural differently. Each year in spring, we celebrate Bangla New Year.

In spring, we celebrate Bangla New Year which we call “pohela boishakh”. It is the first month of the Bengali calendar. In the whole day from morning to evening we do different kinds of things. First, we wake up first thing in the morning, take a shower, and wear dresses called “saris”. Also, everybody celebrates the day
together. There are many gifts being passed around to everyone. Homes get scrubbed and clean. Then people visit relatives, friends and neighbors. We all parade across town. When we were starting to see the parade, we were washed over with excitement. Everything looked very beautiful and colorful. After that, we go to the fair, paint our faces, and garland our hair and necks. Various kinds of foods, sweets, toys and cosmetics are sold at this fair. The fair also provides entertainment. We see many cultural programs in the fair. At lunch time, we eat rice, hilsha fish, and other types of food. Businessmen serve many kinds of sweets. They believe Bangla New Year brings them fortunate and good luck.

I learned a lot from the Bangla New Year. I enjoyed the whole day, learned my cultural foods, and songs. Also, I am really grateful that I am from Bangladesh because it is a great place. Bangla New Year is a day for excitement.

In conclusion, people in my country celebrate Bangla New Year more than before. All cultural people join and share their traditional things. I think everybody should learn about their culture and inform the next generation.
