In my country, there are a few traditional festival in spring such as New Year Festival and Dragon boat Festival.  In those festival,  there is a very special festival on spring called "tomb-sweeping festival."  In this day,  everybody have to go back to their home town and clean their ancestors' tomb.  The meaning is that hope everybody would remember and appreciate their ancestor forever.
The Tomb-Sweeping day is at April 5 or 6 on the lunar calendar.  Chinese people usually offer sacrifice to their ancestor in this festival.  In my country, we have one day off to go back to our home town.  There are many ritual to do in this day.  First, we clean our ancestors' tomb and prepare many food such as chicken, pork, rice cake and some wine.  Those food symbolize our appreciation. In addition, we worship to our ancestor with incense sticks.  This ritual remind us that we can live in this world is because our ancestors.  Furthermore, some people plant the tree in this day.
Nowadays, the tomb-sweeping festival is not only go to clean the tomb.  Besides, people in my country can have one day off in their busy life.  The most importantly, people can spend this day-off with their family.  By preparing the festival together, the hole family could be more close.  Because this now meaning, this festival become more and more like a family day.
In conclusion, although the ritual of tomb-cleaning festival is really complicated, it still is one of important festival in my country.  By the festival, people could show their respect and appreciation to their ancestors.  In addition, a family could be more close through the festival.  The most importantly, we will never forget where were we from by the festival.

  3. It is good organized the way that you describe those different activities in your family tradition, I could have easily the picture in my mind of that...
Do you like practice those rituals because it's a family tradition, like an obligation, or because you are interested by your own to do that?
