THESIS: aboakyire is one of the festival celebrity in Ghana during Easter.
Aboakyire is celebrated in April or early may by the people of effutu of winneba, Ghana. This festival is celebrated during the night when universe is quit. the history behind aboakyire festival is to celebrate to consecrated the migration of their ancient western sudan empire where they were led by brother and a god clled otu. when they consulted the god thet were instructed by their traditional priest between the people and the god to sacrifice a young member of the royal family every year to their god. this was not a good news so they made an appeal to their god who asked for an animal from the wild cat family to be caught alive and beheaded before the god. before the festival began they settle the god at a place called penkye hence the god become penkyi otu. when the people went out to hunt down the wild cat they lost so many men before capturing it alive. this caused the second appeal penkyi otu decided to accept a mature deer. After deer is caught the victorious company brings it alive and present it proudly to their chief. then the animal is taken back to the village they dance and drumming contain in an effort to be penkye so that he will bring them a bountiful.
REFLECTION: every year when it come to this month, i feel amazing because it's an event to meet family and friends. it makes me extremely glad because its time to make merry, eat drink,also i believe in charity during this event to contribute our quota to social development and help the poor and the needy
it also helps to release stress because it involves several activities like dancing and making merry.
CONCLUSION: Today Aboakyere festival has become one of the major festival in Ghana due to several advantages mentioned above ,it helps to bring people together because its time to make merry. Its full of fun and people from far and near come to witness the celebration of Aboakyire. It will be extremely fun and will entreat everyone to join in the celebration of this noble festival.
