Harlem is a community neighbors in the NEW YORK. MANHATTAN....
Formerly known as from a DUTCH village。。since the 21th century，Harlem has been a lot of African-American（black people） residential， cultural and business center。 now， it is one of the main center of crime and poverty in New York city。but currently， it is undergoing a social and economic revival。The Harlem community was founded in 1658,it was annexed to New York city in 1873.

in the 1920s and 1930s。“Harlem renaissance”was happen in that American black community。it is from the end of world war I， and through the middle of the 1930s depression，during which a group of talented African-American writers produced a sizable body of literature in the four prominent genres of poetry, fiction, drama, and essay.

The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned the 1920s and 1930s. At the time, it was known as the "New Negro Movement", named after the 1925 anthology by Alain Locke. Though it was centered in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, many French-speaking black writers from African and Caribbean colonies who lived in Paris were also influenced by the Harlem Renaissance.
