This topic “Charles Ball” was written by Charles Ball, there is talking about his salve life to serve white people in the United States. Charles Ball, who was a slave from Maryland, was born in about 1780. Before he was born that his family was brought from Africa and sold as a slave in this country. They was treated like an animal, that not too much food to feed and must work hard for their master. When Ball was four years old, his family were sold and separated to different place. After sold they were no way to sit together and see each other in their life. But he was lucky and stayed with his father. Few years later, his master, Jack Cox, died. Then he was allowed to marry and consisted of his own family. Unfortunately, that badly thing was happened by him again, which he was sold and separated to his wife and children. But from this time he tried to escape.
So, when I read that information, I feel sadly. At the same time, I think I am lucky. The horrible thing had happened in the past. I was not born in that period, and don’t need to suffer those terrible things now. The result of the Civil War, Today we win the free to sit and talk to different race people, make friends, do whatever we want and go anywhere. Otherwise, we have law to protect us in this country, where we got fair to treat each other and live like a big family.
